Questions about BobbyBrowser
Is BobbyBrowser a virus?
No. BobbyBrowser is a browser for schoolwork. Your teacher uses it to share assignments, choose which resources are available, and help you with your work.

Is BobbyBrowser spyware?
No. BobbyBrowser does not give your teacher remote control of your computer or let them look through your personal files, other apps, or browsing in Chrome, Edge, Safari, or another browser.
During an assigned session, your teacher can see activity inside Bobby, including websites visited, time spent, work you write or upload, and conversations with Bobby’s AI tools. That helps them understand your schoolwork.
Is BobbyBrowser only for schoolwork?
Yes. Use Bobby for the assignments your teacher gives you. It is a separate browser, so you can keep using your regular browser and other apps for your own activities. You do not need to make Bobby your default browser.
Can I still use Chrome, games, and my other apps?
Yes. Installing Bobby does not take those away. The website rules your teacher sets apply inside Bobby; they do not filter your home network or carry over to your other browsers.
For example, a site blocked in Bobby is not blocked in your regular browser by Bobby. Any separate restrictions set by your school or family still apply.
Can my teacher see what I do if I leave Bobby?
Bobby can record that you left its window during an assignment and for how long. It cannot see which other app you switched to or what you did there.
For some assignments or exams, leaving the window may pause your work in Bobby until your teacher lets you continue. This does not give your teacher control over your other apps.
Can I delete BobbyBrowser?
Yes. On a personal computer, you can uninstall it like another app. Quit Bobby first. On Windows, go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps → BobbyBrowser → Uninstall. On Mac, open Finder → Applications and move BobbyBrowser to the Trash.
If your school manages the installation or Chromebook extension, ask school IT to remove it. You will need Bobby installed to do assignments that use it. Removing the app does not automatically delete your account, submitted work, or all locally saved app data.
Why did my antivirus block or quarantine it?
Some security software uses a “reputation score” based partly on how long an app has been around and how widely it has been downloaded. Bobby is newer than browsers like Chrome, so you may see a warning such as “not commonly downloaded.” That message alone does not mean a virus was found.
Depending on the warning, school IT or BobbyBrowser support may need to help verify the installer, allow the download, restore it from quarantine, or add an exception for that specific file. The rest of your antivirus can stay active.
